Ok posted enough questions for one night, worried enough for 100 torts:D
Now to share something most of you already know.
After wanting torts for so long at the ripe old age of 50 I finally get
my first three. I cannot get over how relaxing and peaceful it feels
to lay out on my lawn next to one of my torts and just watch it.
Talk to it gently, watch it chomp down grass.
Its so relaxing, I feel a lot of joy and mellowness. My only regret
was I didn't get into torts 10 or 20 years ago.
And I'm looking forward to getting more. Already planning for a couple additional pens. Thinking about how I can go from pen to pen. In the winter since I have a wood stove and electricity in my barns, already thinking how many hours I'll spend sitting in there and reading while looking at my torts.
(The big ones anyway, my little ones will be in the house in the winter)
Listening to music, maybe playing with my kindle, but being with them out in the barn.
They have a peaceful nature about them, I can't help but relax around them. Must be hooked :tort:
Thank you for letting me share.

Welcome to the point of no return to your former life lol. I'm glad I started when I was ten and can grow old with my tortoises.

So very true. You just can not help but to relax and unwind around these amazing creatures. Plus having them incorporates and opens up your eyes to other things around you. You draw nature closer to you and it brings in all these other magical wonders to really get to see and enjoy. While it would have been nice to have started sooner, the best thing is you have started now and will have many long wonderful years ahead of you with them.

This is one of my favorite aspects too. The idea of raising them from a hatchling and still hanging out with them when I'm an old old man.
