My 14 year old kids are out for the first time this year! They spend the winter in my pool shed and until last month there was never a door, so it really wasn’t an issue for them to come and go. With the addition of the new door, I cut a hole for them.

I bet you are so happy they are up. It is a little earlier then usual. Usually my male wakes up mid March and female a couple weeks after but today was to beautiful of a day for them to stay asleep. They both came out and got some sun for the first time since late October. I kept my distance as they take a couple days to get their appetite and personality back. They are groggy and although I want to go interact I leave em bee at first.

It was 84 here today. A week from now the daytime high is going to be 56-58. How do you guys and your tortoises deal with that when they are allowed to get up early like this?

I am not sure if the torts will remain out of brumation yet at this time. They can remain in their burrows as they wish with the upcoming weather. I am going to not feed them any wet food yet though in case they need more time during a cold spell. They have grass and water.
