three toed box turtle burrowing for long periods help

my box turtle burrows for weeks at a time,ive bben digging him out every week to feed him. Is this normal. Should i be digginghim out to feed him or should i leave him alone.

Is he indoors or out? If indoors, what are the temperatures in his enclosure?

Is he wild caught or cb? He could be trying to hibernate. I keep mine with a small amount of heat at night in the winter and I keep the UVB light on for 14 hours a day. This helps keep them active and eating over the winter.
