Within the past 2 months 2 ticks have been spotted. Ticks are not a common sight here. We are in the process of building an outdoor cage for my tort, and I was wondering if I have to worry about them bugging him. I'm not a tick expert so I can't be sure, bit at least one of them looked like a dog tick (I didn't see the other). Unfourtanatly we don't know where they are coming from, but we do have ideas. Unfourtanatly if those ideas are correct, we can't really do anything to end it.

If they can harm my tort, what are some actions we should take? His cage isn't going to be very close to one possible source, but the other one is stray cats, and we can't do much other than put a cover on the cage.

As far as I know, we do not have any possible breeding spots in our yard, but we were hoping to plant grass and dandelions in his cage.

I'd just check your tort daily for ticks - usually in the armpit areas, etc.

Removal would be just like a human. I wouldn't worry too much!

Ticks are very host specific. Deer or dog ticks will not attack your tortoise.
