Well need some opinion... I noticed tiny limping yesterday ( right rear leg)... He doesn't seem to be bothered by it other than the limp .. He is eating and having his way with his girlfriend Tina...I do not see any noticeable injury except for a small raw patch on the inside of his leg the size of a pea... He has normal bowl movements and passes copious amounts of urates... What are the chances it's a sprain? Only specialty vet needs a lead time of a week for an appointment.. And really not looking forward to lifting him in and out of the car...Only to be told its sprained...

Thoughts opinions..

Tiny is about 15yrs old and weighs close to 100 lbs now... But he has put on the weight this yr...

Not sure but he always seems to have raw spots on his legs or neck... He is a real bull dozer... Just not sure how he could have sprained it...

I thought about that since they have been at it a lot.. Just not sure how Casanova could have hurt his right rear leg...

What can I do to help him rest that leg??

When he mounts her next time, take a look and see if his shell is being pressed in to his legs causing the raw spot, that could very well be it, but if hes a climbing over things, seems they get to flailing those legs real crazy if their getting stuck, could have very well been flailing that leg trying to get traction and then when he caught traction it jolted it. just a thought?? haha rest a sulcatas leg? im not sure thats possible, unless you have an unlimited buffet right in front of him. or hes flipped over. lol

Well I penned him up for now... Casanova is going to rest by himself for a while.

.I might try shortening his pen and bringing up the heat to 90 to get him to stay in his hide... He usually stays in his hide when temps rise above 88..

Thoughts??

How long should I wait to see if his leg improves...He is acting and eating as normal...I opened his,pen because he was pacing... And wouldn't stop.. So i let him out... But he is limping pretty bad...he extends the leg he just can't support his weight on it... If I try to look at it he pulls it in and he won't let me see it... I try to pull it out carefully but he is to strong and I'm afraid to aggravate the situation..

I really can't understand how he could have injured that leg...

If it keeps it up, I would get him to a vet to check it out, you dont want to cause more damage than needed. Also, if you dont think its from the raw spot, Iv also head about blatter stones affecting the rear legs, but usually it seems to be both legs and they cant use them, but im sure every tort is different. I think I would get an X ray of the leg and stomach to see whats going on in their.

Update on tiny... Well he seemed to be doing better... He is moving his leg now... But he doesn't seem to be able to put all his weight on it... I placed him on a bucket to let his legs hang down... There is no obvious sign of damage... I was able to feel around his (what I would call )his upper thigh and it felt normal... He retracts it very quickly and with considerable force......

I had made an appointment with the exotic specialist and canceled because I thought the leg was getting better... He was moving it.... But it has now been two weeks and he still can't put weight on it ...

Here is the question... Should I make another appointment for tiny??... How long before a sprain should be fully healed??

Thoughts opinions??
