Tuesday I will be getting my first tortoise. I'm so very excited to get my Russian tortoise baby and I was just wondering if anybody had any specific tips on care, or basically anything about them. I've read care sheets upon care sheets and I feel confident for the most part, but I wanted to know if you experts had anything to add. Thank you so much! After I get him/her I will add pictures to the thread.

I can tell you that mine LOVES to climb & dig. So a good "safe" place to burrow down in is a great idea. In the pic I attached is a broken terra cotta pot that Martha practically lives under. I moved it once & she pooped in her food dish for a week until I put it back..... Also if I was going to build a diff enclosure, I would have def made it taller to have deeper dirt for digging & add a second level. They love to roam.

Also, what kind of dish do you use for water in the enclosure and the soaks? And how often do you soak. I know I've been told twice a week, but will doing it more often be harmful?
