I found another little Max, this morning. Upside down, dried up. So sad! This would most likely have been Max’s fate if I wasn’t lucky enough to find him. But thank goodness I did. He’s doing great, enjoying a life of luxury.
Sad😞
When you do find them though they should be left in the wild. Either flip them right side up or move off the road or out of danger but in the same area.
They should never be taken from the wild.
It's always sad to find a dead turtle Gerry.....and you are most likely correct mathematically. Just by the metric, chances are Max would not have survived, even on his own in the wild.
That's why I went from an admitted "wild catcher" to "won't anymore".....with the metrics stacked against them already combined with fragmentation, every single one in the wild is a chance for a local population, not much of a chance granted, but a chance.
Y'know Gerry..........I looked at the pics of Max.....and your Max is beginning to look a LOT like a "Matilda"......and my Matilda is beginning to look a LOT like a "MAX"!!
I will let people smarter than us make the call....but it's starting to look that way.......funny as heck!
