Toe Nails

I won't repeat the LONG prior post, but needless to say I have an RT now, WAY ahead of schedule! I think his nails are too long though so he needs a nice rock to eat off of. The ground is frozen here so I can't just dig one up. Is there something you know of to buy (Pet store, Lowes, etc?) that he can eat on and trim his nails at the same time? I had a rock coming but found out it was plastic. Not exactly what I wanted.

I use ceramic flowerpot bases.

i got 2 of those 10 inch yard path stones for my new indoor setup , its nice and ruff ...

Do any of you trim your torts nails? My new greek female has horrid nails....they are transparent so you can see the quick but the quick is rather lengthly.

I thought about that too, but I gotta tell you, any time I touched his feet they disappeared heh.

Yep happens to me and she is strong! My lady, Bonnie is very timid. I got her and Clyde at the pet store...maybe not the best place but my home for them has to be better for them. Clyde is very social and Bonnie not so much, I think she is still adjusting. I don't want to fuss with her nails but I trimmed a few and think a trip to lowes for a rock is a great idea!

Russian tortoises' (Testudo horsfieldii) toenails DO seem to be a little too long. Its the nature of the beast.

Do these look like they need trimmed or is that normal? I know he's in pretty bad shape. I'm fixing that.

They don't look too bad to me. Once you get him set up in his own habitat with space to wander around he'll be fine.

Those nails look fine, the beak and shell rot don't look so great though...good luck with him!
