Tommy has been a good hearty eater even though he has been somewhat picky as to what he will eat. When I first got him home, he would only eat spring mix and almost only the green leaves. I did try to get him to eat other things, but he would eat mainly the green spring mix and his softened Mazuri. I had previously tried escarole as I've read on here that they like it, but to no avail. Yesterday I stopped and got some escarole mix and he just tore into it. I do sprinkle his food with reptical , but had noticed he was trying to chew on a stone turtle carving that's in his enclosure, so I bought a cuttlebone which I have seen him trying to chew on as well. I guess he's in a growth spurt. Yeah!

I forgot to say that I had bought some African grass seed blend and planted some in a pot. I cut some off and cut it into pieces and piled it on top of his escarole this morning and he actually just started eating it! I was so excited.

That's great. They can be picky eaters, so the best bet is to expose them to a wide variety of foods to help broaden their taste experience. I have to sneak in the Mazuri with my hatchlings lettuce mix to get them used to it. I put some wetted pellets in there the other day and they just stared at it, climbed over it, and a few eventually took a bite to sample it. Keep putting new things in their diet and you will cure the picky eater.

I have been giving him variety, and he does sniff and sometimes tastes them.

Mines a picky one too and he's 2 1/2. I am also caring for 2 6 month olds and again, picky. All you can do is keep trying. It's always a great day when you get them to eat something different.
