So my russian tortoises were courting in sttempt to mate from late March to early June, and the males haven't attempted breeding since because the females were not receptive. All of a sudden , they've started again and I noticed the females had scales missing from their feet when the male attempts to position the female. Today, they actually locked. When I throw in food or they see me, they come charging. One of my females discharged what I believe to be sperm after the male got off her back. Is it too late for eggs? Will she lay them or hold them till next season?
