I have 2 baby russian tortoises that is a boy and a female. That are still very young. Is it a good chance for them to breed together when they are older. I keep them together all of the time.
Well...torts generally can be together as a pair when they are small babies however as they get to juveniles or sooner they generally begin to have pair issues...also, remember that there is not a sure fire way to know the sex of babies...so you may actually have two of the same sex...and even males and female pairs can have issues....you would be best to have an eventual plan for two enclosure in the event they can not get along later in one enclosure....harmony may be a hard thing to achieve with a pair....then again, you may be the exception and have the rare pair that get along....
I was in the same situation but in my case the male ended up gaining the physical advantage. He dominated the smaller tort and bullied her to the point where I had to separate them. I'm still trying to get her back to a healthy state five months later. It can work but if I were you I would expect it not to. I've heard a group of three or more has a better chance of working. The key is having enough space for however many tortoises you are keeping.
I lost my Russian tortoise last year in the winter and I was so worried and just last week we found him in a garden! Now I have a 7 inch female and about a 4 or 5 inch male. Is it a good chance of them possibly mating between now and fall. I keep them outside an I live in pa.
Also in the winter hey go inside but in summer they are outside.
