Tortoise bath

Can anyone tell me what the best way to bath a tortoise is? [TURTLE] I normally just fill a tub of shallow water and use a soft bristle toothbrush for her shell. Earlier today when giving her a bath we slightly tipped her to clean under her shell and she tilted her head backwards, can anyone tell me why this was? Thank you [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

They don't like being on their backs. When they do flip, they try to use their heads to flip back over. That's probably why she did that. You're bathing method is fine. (I personally never bathe mine, other than soaking them if they should get some poop stuck to their plastron and they smell!)

I have never bathed mine either. Soakings only. Usually their movement in the soak gets any dirt, poop off they might have.
