I just got the funniest, and tastiest idea for my tortoise Cheerio. I should make Tortoise burritos!
Here's the recipe to make them

#1 take a large leaf to substitute a tortilla ImageUploadedByTortForum1376091339.185548.jpg
#2 I would recommend to collect WILD edible greens and flowers for some crunch. For example ImageUploadedByTortForum1376091536.438045.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1376091552.338574.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1376091568.204853.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1376091584.935734.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1376091600.448143.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1376091614.437391.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1376091630.363059.jpg
#3 to substitute for the meat or beans in the burrito, take some of your tortoises food pellets. (The kind that you add water to)
For example: ImageUploadedByTortForum1376091746.746146.jpg
#4 now it time to add your ingredients into your large leaf. You can make any combination that you like. Example: ImageUploadedByTortForum1376091901.676117.jpg
#5 roll up your tortoise burrito, then wrap it securely and tie it with a piece of grass.
Complete! ImageUploadedByTortForum1376092074.334450.jpg
The best part is to watch your tortoise eat them. Cheerio loves them. ImageUploadedByTortForum1376092174.402782.jpg
(Like all burritos they are very messy)
Enjoy!

Great idea. I like it. We also have a tortoise meatball recipe on the forum some place. Maybe if Jaizei sees this thread, he will pop it in here for us:)

My torts definitely dig the meatballs. It's a great way to get them to eat grass/hay. I can also sneak in some calcium powder in it without them even knowing. They aren't as fancy and pretty as your burritos, which I definitely have to try cuz they're adorable, but they totally work. 20130611_082540.jpg

Love it! It also looks like something you could pop in the fridge for a couple days for those mornings when constructing the perfect tort salad isn't in the cards.

I believe Coastal Silkworms advertised Mazuri and Marion in the for sale section recently (two of the ingredients in DeanS's meatballs). Of course there's tons of room to tweak the recipe.. sometimes I'd add jarred baby food (carrots) for extra flavor and vitamins. The things we do for our babies, huh? :D

Your right! I've kept it in the fridge overnight for his breakfast, it totally stays fresh :)
