I love small turtles. We have a box turtle that comes over in the summers. Unfortunately my first one is a big one.

I have this little ones current enclosure posted somewhere here but i definitely want to get him or her in something bigger once we are out of the aquatic stage in a couple months

I misremembered, most keep them aquatic for 12-18 months so he will move to terrestrial next spring. Which means my current debate is do I upgrade the enclosure. I know often hatchlings are kept in smaller enclosures

Maybe @turtlesteve can guide you on this. I remember him having used the water method

How big is the current enclosure, and how big is the baby? Depends on preference. I wouldn’t go terrestrial before about 3” and I wouldn’t stay wet past 4” or so. So somewhere in that range is where you would transition. Planted terrarium is great if you can manage to keep the plants alive.

I need to measure but 2-3” , I would say. It only hatched in October. Currently enclosure is 36x18x12

I just took little ones measurements. 3” and 63.5 grams. So I’m just debating when to upgrade from the 36x18x12
