Hi I'm wondering if anyone can help,

this was the bulb I was given with my tort but after just 6 days of having him it's gone out. I'm off to the shop now to buy a new one, I'm just double checking this is definitely the right temperature and lighting for him as he also doesn't seem to be out much during the day!

Thanks:)

We don't have that product over here, but it does not seem legitimate. To my knowledge there is no such thing as a Halogen bulb that emits UVB, and that is the important one.

For an all in one bulb that provides heat, light and UVB, the only ones I know of are mercury vapor bulbs. There are a few varieties on the market both here and over there.

The other alternative is to use a long tube type florescent bulb for UVB, and a regular incandescent flood bulb from the hardware store for basking.

Don't let the pet shop talk you into one of those coil type cfl florescent bulbs. They frequently damage tortoise eyes.

Is this bulb most likely my best bet? If so I'll order it straight away

I feel really bad for not giving my little guy the right lighting, I just thought the woman I got him from knew her stuff but obviously not!

Thanks again Tom
