Tortoise problem

Hi guys I have a problem I think… so my sulcata tortoise has a part on the bottom of his shell that I don't think is normal I tried looking some things up but I found nothing on the webs his is what it looks like. ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1471481082.614479.jpg
(When i went up to take the picture he had fallen over so u took advantage I did not put him on his back on purpose.

And he part in taking about is the black part on the bottom of his shell and he had that when we got him

That appears to be the umbilical scar that connected the baby tortoise to the egg sac.
It should dry out and heal over in a week or two if his conditions are right.
He is very young, right ?

Approximately how old and how large is your Sulcata? In your posted photo it appears that your tortoise may be a juvenile and the dark spot may be the remains of the egg sack. If this is the case, nothing needs to be done except to let time heal.

That should've be closed up before selling or buying that little guy . Make sure you're soaking him .
