Tortoise Weight

Hi guys,

We have a horsefield tortoise he's about 140mm, could you please confirm what the average weight should be for a tortoise of this length? He's been a bit inactive for the last few weeks, but his current weight is at 380g. Some sources I've seen have similiar weights for tortoises like mine, but others identify him as really underweight (He hasn't been eating much lately, but from research, it is an active period right now? He seems to want to sleep/potentially hibernate.

Just want to confirm if I should be concerned at this point? And for future reference, confirm what weight I should expect him to be to hibernate this year.

Where are you? Please go into your user profile and add a general location.

That weight sounds within the range of normal for that size.

Whether or not the tortoise hibernates is up to you. What are your four temps? How are you heating and lighting the enclosure? Do you wish to hibernate the tortoise, or keep it up all winter?
