Hello,

as you can see im a newbie to this site and to tortoises so still getting used to things.
iv read up alot about diets and what i can and cannot feed my tortoise?

i have purchased a bistro salad bag from grocery store which explains as ' a mix of tender leaves and sweet beetroot'.

i no turk can eat lamb lettuce and frisee but not sure about beetroot if anybody knows?

also my turk has not pooped that i no of for a week now (have been informed he may be eating it) but im worried this is due to his diet.
im feeding him lettuce an carrot everyday with Arkvitz every other day and sometimes some apple or banana.
i know dandelions are good to help him poo but dont know where i can purchase them from? as at this time of year in the UK we will be lucky if any plants grow outside its so cold.

the temperature in the viv is perfect iv checked on many sites for temps and sitting average which is good.

i only got turk at xmas so will be taking him to get checked up end of Jan when i get paid!
i have also bathed him like every other day and hes urinating fine just no poop?
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME IM SO WORRIED!!

HES A RUSSIAN HORSEFIELD TORTOISE BTW! X

Hi Beetroot is a no no so do not feed this. Dandelion is ok but not to much its a diuretic so it will dehydrate if fed to much this will make going to the pooping worse not better. I live in the UK too so i know how hard it is at the moment to feed weeds and at the moment mine is eating different mixed lettuce and complete Tort food which she gets twice a week. Here is a link to a good Plant site i use to work out good food i am starting to buy the seeds to plant for the spring and i am already growing weeds in the house i also grow Watercress in the house this is fast growing and is ok to feed every so often.

By the way Shelby did not go poo for at least a week when i got her the stress of a new home can do this I just got told to keep her Hydrated and she started to go. I would stop the fruit for now and increase greens this will help fruit as a lot of sugar and could be making it worse.

Frisee lettuce is ok to feed. I am not sure about tomato's. You can grow some weeds for him indoors. My hacthlings will eat their poop when ever they can, I am always on poop patrol! They usually poop when eating or right after, so I usually wait for the little gifts!
