I have a Greek tortoise, and for the past week or so he’s been exhibiting some unusual behavior. He comes out to bask, normal activity during the day, but when it comes to eating he will only eat a few bites of greens. I’ve tried dandelion, radicchio, endive, plantain, even romaine (I know it’s mostly water but I figured I’d try).
I thought he was constipated, tried pumpkin and baths for a few days. He pooped but his behavior hasn’t changed.
His basking temps are 95-100 F, gradient down to 70/75 on the cool side.
I tried some benebac yesterday and today to get some probiotics into him to see if that would help but nothing seems to be working.
He’s acting normal otherwise, clear nose, eyes, he’s hydrated and has liquidy urates.
Could this be hormones? Brumation? I wasn’t going to take him to the vet yet because his personality is and activity is great and hasn’t changed.
Any ideas would be great. Thank you
