IMG_7242.JPG Hi,

Not posted on here much but we have inherited a tortoise and not sure where he came from before hand. We've never had a tortoise before and have taken him to the vet for an overgrown beak. However we have noticed that his shell looks a little strange, just wondering if anyone knows if this is a problem and if so, how would we treat it? Thank you very much in advance!

Hi there - is that a russian? I can see your concern with the overlap of scutes. What does it look like under the overlap?

Also, the substrate (rabbit pellets) should be replaced with dirt, coconut coir, bark, etc.

It's different for sure, but I don't think it should be a problem.
The pellets in the pic, if you are still using them, is a problem. Get rid of them and use plain dirt, coconut coir or orchid bark.
