Hi I've just read the discussion on urates. When I first got Shelvy he use to pee white stuff quite a lot but I have noticed recently that his pee is almost clear with no urates in it at all and there is much more of it, his pooh is also harder and darker and does not have as much an odour to it - is this a good sign? He has a varied diet and I bath him every other day.

Firm poop and darker in color is good. The urates are excess protein, so I think he's fine. My Russian doesn't always urate, maybe once a week at the least sometimes.

The more reliable water source our tort can rely on will allow the tort to clear their system and thus decrease urates passed...eventually you will have tort that no longer has urates stored for passing....
