Anyone heard any news about affordable Herp LED lighting??

Also I've been kicking around the idea of installing an LED fixture in my Sri Lankan star enclosure. I saw a freshwater aquarium fixture at PetCo this last weekend that can be setup to simulate dusk and dawn, moon, and even the occasional thunderstorm for the rainy season. I wouldn't be trying to supplement UV rays it's more for plant life in the enclosure and more light.

Any thoughts???

If you've got a good source of uv for your tortoise, and you want to pay for the led lights for ambiance, I say go for it. Maybe have a water spray wand handy during the lightening storms…

But, to my knowledge there are no UV producing LED lights. You would still need to provide that by other means.

That's what I've been reading, that they have not come out with them yet. When they come out with them I'll be jumping all over them.

I was actually thinking of installing a small sprinkler head on a timer. I have an old 100 gallon drilled reef tank that I'm turning into a show quality display/enclosure. Maybe a weekly thunderstorm would be a feature!?
