oh what a beautiful girl! i know you didn't ask this part, but rabbit pellets are not the best substrate for tortoises, it molds easily and it can cause splayed foot, which is a condition that is a result of tortoises not being able to get a good foot hold when they walk. young tortoises should be kept on substrate that can hold a little bit of humidity to keep from pyramiding... but i must say vera's shell looks pretty good considering!

Very nice leopard, how long have you had her?

i do agree with moswen though, even though herbifloor is made for tortoises, it doesn't make the best substrate. Stuff like coco coir, cypress mulch,Orchid bark or plain soil make the best substrate since they hold humidity better.

Wow, only 2 days? thats exciting.

There's a lot to read on this site but the one post that seems to be a great guideline to follow is this one (it's about sulcatas but also applies to Leopards)

http://tortoiseforum.org/Thread-How-To-Raise-Sulcata-Hatchlings-and-Babies

You should weigh her and make a chart that way you can look back at her progression later on :) , I get excited when I weigh my little guy and he's up even just a couple of grams.

Congrats on you new Leopard

You shouldn't use the compressed straw pellets either. You need to have a substrate that you can moisten. Whoever you bought the tortoise from has done an excellent job so far of raising a smooth tortoise. Now you need to have a moist substrate to keep it smooth. Being on dry pellets will cause the tortoise to grow pyramided. Here's a good thread for you to read. Its for sulcata babies, but it also works for leopards:

Sorry about that...I see that you have already been given the link.

Beautiful Tort, she is very pretty! Definitely pa-rouse the forum, there are a lot of members who have been doing this for years and they all give great advice. Ask lots of questions and Vera will be healthy, happy, and grow old with you!

Congratulations on your new addiction! (if it isn't yet, it soon will be)
