Other things that my husband didn't exactly tell me prior to adopting Frankie...she is active! She needs excercise every day. We are not up to 70 plus F outside yet here in Oregon. We have her out on the few very warm days we have had but otherwise I get to do supervised tortoise laps for a good hour or two each day on the wood part of our flooring. She is so energetic and sweet. Cute as our kitty is happy to have Frank out of brumation. Apparently she missed her. I will post photos from outside soon of our energetic little Russian girl. She did completely recover from URI after hibernation this month. Yay!

It's fun to watch them stomping all around, isn't it? When I go into my Russian area they all coming charging out and crawl over my feet. I've been known to accidentally kick one or two as I walk through there. :(

My 10-month old Russian is SO active!! Glad to know that's normal ;) He races around his enclosure all day. I'm still getting used to how active he is because when he was a little hatchling he would sleep all day!

Be careful letting your tort walk on wood flooring- I imagine it's slippery and not very good for their little legs! I don't know if I would let her roam around for an hour at a time because I would think she would get cold!

Hi Katie,

You are so right, hubby reset me as an hour out is too long and not what we are really doing. Probably 20 minutes at a time. It is cold and rainy here and I was laughing yesterday as now have cat, 2 boys and tortoise that are in pissy moods due to weather that is conducive to everyones activity level. I am just doing 20 minute supervised walks for Frankie 2 times aday. She is getting a new larger indoor enclosure from the Easter bunny this week too so that will help. I just hope this does not spell a long cold spring like we get here in Pacific NW.....cool and rainy through end of June.....

I have a Russian as well and she is also super active. Today it reached 80 here in the Midwest (we had a rough winter!). My lil girl isn't much for roaming the house, but we give her the option. Today we put her out in the yard and she was so excited. She practically ran throughout the yard, only stopping occasionally to munch on a bit of dandelion greens.
