Have you made changes to your enclosure; change substrate to an earth type substrate? have you covered part of the top to allow some humidity to be present as well as retain some warmth?

The symptoms you mention can represent an environment that is too dry....please share what your set up is like now...:D

This is the set up now. I just don't know how to make it any better! ImageUploadedByTortForum1393089415.900352.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1393089427.149439.jpg

Here is how I would change the enclosure;

Remove the hay, replace it with peat moss like this;

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Premier-3-cu-ft-Peat-Moss-70976040/100626048

and moisten the substrate below the heat lamp...is that lamp a uva/uvb/heat lamp?

I would then get some heavy duty foil, yes foil :D and I would open the wire top and wrap the top with the foil, EXCEPT for the spot directly under the lamp, and close the wire top back down---this will allow some additional enclosure of the space---this will allow humidity to increase along with warmth to become a bit more stable....

I also would change that water dish out, I would use something like this;

http://www.walmart.com/ip/33722528?...40462221&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=62712120901&veh=sem

This will allow easy and safe access into and out of the water for the torts....less of a flipping chance and I would place that water dish away from the corner---corners are a place that torts like to try to climb up and you would not want the little buggers flipping upside down in a water dish....

You can also use this type of dish for offering food..this will keep the food up and off of the substrate...or you can use a slate tile to offer the food on, it will allow the tort easy access right up to the food along with offering a rough surface for the tort to keep their beak nice and trimmed up....also it will help to let them keep their nails worn down nicely...you can get a slate tile from home depot / lowes and the like...

then we can later discuss the dangers of keeping a pair (2) torts together in the same enclosure/space...:D
