I have a few month old baby redfoot tortoise and I was wondering if it's ok to wake up my tortoise in the mornings and put him next to his food dish too feed him. Thank you!

Believe it or not I have the same question in mind! I have had a Greek tortoise for over four years. I allow it to roam around the flat, and as it does so, it sometimes falls asleep. I wonder if I am to wake it up or not to feed it. Let's wait and see what the experts have to say.

And a very warm welcome to the :tort: forum.

Thank you! It's a wonderful place with wonderful people! Yea haha I just want to make sure it's not bad for him or anything because I don't want to hurt him but I need to make sure he eats so I just need some advice from the experts like you said lol

Sorry-I'm not one of them! At the same time I'd rather wait: it won't harm the tortoise if it waited, and one thing I'm sure of: tortoises can put up with hunger. I am going to wait for advice.

Ok, here's what I do with my baby tortoises:

First thing in the a.m., the lights (on a timer) come on about 6a. When I'm finished on the Forum, I take them all and put them in a warm water soak, this is about 7a. Then while they're soaking, I go about taking care of my morning ablutions. When that's done, I start chopping up their food. I place the food on the feeding tiles in the different baby habitats. I then get the babies out of the soaking water and place the babies around the food and step out of their sight.

You can if you would like to . It's not going to hurt your tort . To the second person . You shouldn't let your tort run free in your house . He maybe falling asleep because he's to cold . There's a lot of stuff a tort can get it's self hurt on running around loose.

Nope it won't hurt them! I will grab my girl and place her in front of her food in the morning if she has buried herself because I know if she buries herself she most likely won't be coming up anytime soon, ha. (I have a cherry head) :)
