My redfoots love turning their water bowl into mud. But then they don't have clean water to drink. They get soaked everyday where they drink as well. Any tips on keeping a clean water bowl?

I use coconut substrate that's why they track it into their bowl.

Put some live green moss around the waterbowl. That is what I started doing and I have not had issues since. When I first put the moss in, the tortoises (leo's) took a few bites, but they decided it was not good enough to eat. Since then they leave it alone. You can even grow some chia, wheatgrass or other low growing seeds in the moss to "secure" the moss patches to the ground so they cannot move the patches.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I'm gonna go pick up some moss and see if I can find some slate great ideas!

Keep in mind too, it's a human thing to think water must be 100% crystal clear. A little dirty is not going to hurt them.
