If it is easy accessible it's not a problem

Depends on the dimensions. Most are too tall. Plastic ones also don't offer traction to wet tortoise feet. Its a bad thing if your tortoises doesn't want to use its water dish because it isn't comfortable with it.

Why don't you like the terra cotta saucers?
