Looks like a male Greek to me :)

I am not all that fantastic with the subspecies, but if I had to guess I would say that I was 99.9% sure it is a Testudo graeca graeca.

T.g.g., as I said above, would be golden ;) T.g.i. would be Ibera.

DUH!!! Sorry about that ... lol I read Greek but did not see the second line. So what is the difference between a golden and an Ibera? What are you looking at to tell the difference?

Just trying to learn :D.

I'd say female, the angles are bad but that tail looks pretty short, a male Greek has a pretty long one. I compared those pics to the ones of my two girls, and I'd say for sure its a girl. Nice find.

These are my girls, so you can compare

She could be a Jordan too, she looks that way to me. Ibera females are usually larger that 7" but thats about right for a Jordanian.

I was looking at the anal scutes more so than the tail. On a female the anals sweep back on more of an angle into the femorals, and are an overall longer scute than what the males exhibit.

I am terrible on subspecies, I admit. I can usually nail an Ibera, but that is about it. My Jordanian is half Antakyan and that mixes me up as well :p

After getting him I am almost positive it is a boy - concaved belly. The owner had a record from the vet for service preformed and it also stated male. Not sure why he listed female... lol.
