Hi, about six or seven months ago I purchased a golden Greek and normal Greek baby tortoise. When I got them, the normal was ever so slightly larger than the golden. Now the normal is huge compared to the golden. I know the golden has grown some but not a lot, and not nearly as much as the normal. Does anyone have any thoughts as to why? Is it sex? Or is it because one is a normal and the other is a golden? The golden eats all the time. I probably see it eating more often than the normal. Thanks to everyone in advance for your input. Chris

This is just based on my personal guys but when I got my two greeks one was just slightly bigger and then over the past few months the bigger one got A LOT bigger than the other one.... from what I was told when two are kept together like that, it's common for one to outgrow the other. Not sure why but it happened to me, they are both getting along and eating their share so I don't see any problems with that.

Greeks vary greatly between the subspecies with size... just wondered what you are calling a "normal greek"... genetics can also play a part... and every tortoise is different... even within the same subspecies size range can vary...
