Hi, I recently bought 2 around-20 month-old horsefield tortoises at Christmas time. Today I let them out in the garden out for a little run around (it is not the first time), and caught my girly eating this, I'm really not sure what it is, so I was wondering if any of you guys might know, and if it is safe or not for them to eat?:

;) thanks. please give me feedback! oh- and tell me if the pics don't attach/are not clear enough, I can put more on here!:shy::D:):p:tort::tort::tort:;)

Hi ChessieW:

Welcome to the Tortoise Forum!!

What would you like us to call you?

and may we know appx. where in the world you are?

I couldn't see your pictures, but if the tortoise ate it, its probably ok.

Hello and welcome :)

Your links to your photos haven't worked. It seems to be a reference to a location on your computer rather than an upload.

Welcome to TFO :)
If your tortoise isn't acting different (sick) then it should be okay, just wait until you know what it is before feeding again :D

Welcome to forum :)

Tortoises know what to eat and not what to, they survive in the wild on knowing what's good and what's not, I wouldn't worry to much, if not at all! My 3 have soo many different kinds of weeds in there pen outside and the majority of them I don't know what they are but there smart enough to sort themselves out like every other tort :)

Hi Chessie:

Yes it worked. It looks like some sort of violet. They are usually edible.

Ok!! Thank you! She seems ok anyway, not acting strangely so I guess it's ok.
