I have a Sulcata tort but now I want a water turtle. I have a 40 gallon tank that I'm getting set up. Now I need help choosing a turtle. I want something really pretty but not normal like a Map or Red Ear. It will be a single turtle so it has to be awesome all by it's self. Also I don't want to spend over $50 for it. Is there any such turtle?? What would you recommend? Thanks!

Diamondback terrapins are stunning.

Yes they are but would the care be the same as a reg turtle? I don't know the difference between a turtle and a terrapin? Also how much do they run?

A Texas map would be nice but not sure if u consider that plain, they r not plain or extremely common as an res or miss map is, very beautiful and stay small, but cheaper would be something like a southern painted or even a razor back musk would be cool, my prettiest turtles IMO are my pink belly side neck and Texas map but my southern painteds are rather gorgeous too. A northern dbt is another to consider but they can get large.

I kinda like the razor back musk (looks tough) and the pink belly side neck is kinda cool looking as well.

My favorite aquatic turtles are Mata Mata's! I dont have one personally but I would love to get my hands on one.
