I enjoy looking at all the tortoise photos and I notice some very unique names. What's the name of your tortoise and is there a story behind the name?

My tortoise is named Louis, after Louis (Satchmo) Armstrong. I love his music.

This thread says I don't have access.

Betty came with the name Betty Boop. We didn't want to change her name as we knew we would have to change her whole set up. I think it's a cute name and we call our dog boo so we call her the boo tortoise sometimes too.

I also call her chica because she is my little buddy.

My juvenile African spur-thigh (sulcata) is named Kobe, which is Swahili for tortoise. My redfoot came with the name Toby, so I now have Kobe and Toby!

All but one of my turtles have had names that start with the letter "M," in honor of the giant tortoise from The Neverending Story, Morla the Aged One (or Ancient One). :)

Thanks, guys. I love Morla, too. Such a wonderfully fantastical turtle! Actually, come to think of it, I had two whose names didn't start with "M." My first box turtle was named Gremlin, and my redfoot tortoise was named Chama (which means "little girl" in Venezuelan Spanish). :)
