So, I know that it's best to raise your torts in a high humidity environment especially while they are young, but when exactly do you lower the humidity? What age/size? I have a Redfoot so obviously this won't apply to me, but I am still curious as to when it isn't necessary for desert and other species. I'm assuming a humid hide is still necessary even once the humidity is lowered also.

You can stop worrying so much about humidity once they reach a year and are outside most of the time.

When my Sulcatas reach about 5 inches I cut back on the humidity and soakings. Never once had a tortoise I raised myself from hatchling to adult even get the slightest amount of pyramiding so that method seems to work for me.

You should always provide some humidity. If they like it it has no harm to them. Soakings can only be lessened not completely stopped, same for humidity.
