Where to position uvb tube??

Having built Terence a new tortoise table I am unsure of how best to attach his light tube, I have seen pictures of various set ups with them on the side or at one end. I have a reflector as well so surely the best way would be above his enclosure for optimum exposure?? It's an 18 inch bulb and his run is approx 36" (not I closing the shelter part) he will be outside as much as possible but with uk weather being so variable it's not always possible. Thoughts appreciated 😃 thanks
