Wild banana? Bird of paradise? My app says it’s either/both.

I have this giant plant in my yard. I believe it’s a white bird of paradise. I’m reading conflicting thoughts on feeding from its fine to they don’t eat it. Safe to rinse chop and see what happens if I offer it with other leaves? Strelitzia nicolai

I’m pretty sure it’s do not feed. Just looking for confirmation. I’m trying to be sure of what I have and what edible around my property as I make a list of new things to grow. I have a giant aloe but she won’t touch it.

I vote for banana based on the leaves but id like to see more unobstructed pix. I always see Bird of Paradise with much thinner long leaves.

That said, that flower bud doesnt look anything like the bananas I have grown.

So, my final answer is White Bird of Paradise.

I've never seen a Bird of Paradise that big, but the flower is definitely Bird of Paradise.
