Hi. I am a member of this forum for our pet tortoise.

My son accidentally stepped on a fence lizard today when it jumped out of a bush when he was walking by. It severely injured his head and blinded one eye. However he is still alive. I cannot see him getting better and if I put him outside he will be eaten alive. He cannot move in a straight line, runs in circles with his head cocked.

I think I need to put him down but want to do it the most humane way possible. Does anyone have a thought?

The fastest way is to cut its head off . I know its bad but its fast and almost painless.

I have heard people say the freezer is most humane before but not sure if that is true.

I would like to avoid the head idea. My wife want me to just put it outside for nature to take its course.

The chopping its head off is actually the most humane way

Most vets will take care of wild animals for free. If you take it in they can euthanize it humanely.

yeah, the freezing way has been found to be the less desirable/less humane way.....if you cut the head, be prepared for the two parts to move a bout a bit before silence arrives--I only say this so you are prepared and not further freaked out.

I don't agree. Not for an ectotherm. Very much so for an endotherm.
