If kept outdoors in a heated house during the winter, do your tortoises go out in the cold to eat? Or do you put food in the enclosure?
I still keep Yoshi (2 yrs old/a little over 8 inches) in a closed chamber indoors. I let him out all day during warm weather but when he is out in the yard he just spends the whole time hiding in a cave and doesn't really go around the spacious enclosure. Indoors, he roams his enclosure and has a very hearty appetite.
I'm already planning to house him outdoors permanently maybe after winter but I am curious as to how well they eat during the cold if kept outside.

This has to be played by ear. I have snow, so going out to graze is not an option. I an feeding my outside guys in their boxes. In spring and fall, I watch them, and feed them if they don't seem to be going out.
