I checked the web cam yesterday morning and realized our tortoise moved out of her burrow and into her night box the night before.

It was ninety-five in the box when I checked on her late afternoon yesterday but she decides when the seasons are changing, not me!

Last she she hibernated very early (October 1!) and I wasn't happy with her fridge setup, as we weren't expecting it so soon. Fortunately a part we need to make extra sure the fridge maintains a stable temperature arrived last night. I'm fussy and like to have it running smoothly for a couple of weeks before she goes down. She certainly hasn't stopped eating yet but has been munching on some twigs and bits of the "seabed" that our yard is composed of. Seabed is basically a mineral snack.

She's definitely getting ready for hibernation. This will be her fourth hibernation with us; the process is getting more familiar but the thought of keeping watch over her for four months always makes me nervous.
