Wood from outside?

I went out to the woods a while back, and found a nice log that I think my three toed box turtle would like in her indoor habitat. Is it okay to not bake it first? Thank you for any help!

It depends if you think it will brink in insects or mould. I would give it a good wash and scrub and leave in a deep bucket to make sure nothing is in it and then let it dry, outside the enclosure and then add it in.

This is one of those questions where the answer could be yes or no.
There are a lot of things that may or may not play a part.
If your turtles and the log are from anything but the same geographical area, you're probably best to play it safe.
