Im sorry to keep asking so many questions, but these are my first turtles and i want to do it right...

I bought the worms from wal-mart but they ended up being Trout worms and Nightcrawlers. I decided to buy both to see what they would like. I have them in a bin (making compost) so that they will be good for sure with their new diet, since i dont know where they came from. Anyways, are these a good type of worm to give my two baby boxies???:tort:

PM me your email and I will send you a news letter on raising worms. I think red wigglers are more the compost type. Night crawlers live in soil. Night crawlers are fine. I don't know what a trout worm is. Can you find rolly pollys in your yard?

Hi Stephanie:

Yes, those will be just fine. You may have to cut the night crawlers into bite-sized pieces, though. They're pretty big for babies.

Night crawlers are the only one's available to me, so I usually cut them up for my 1 year old. For the hatchlings, I have an indoor compost bin, and cut up some red wigglers, blood worms, and rolly polly's. I also put a little canned venison with sweet potato, to get them used to eating other foods. Gradually I add some fruit, and greens.
Please ask as many questions as you like. I am always asking questions and still learning.

I have been "breeding" earth worms and night crawlers for over 10 years now, I love them for composting and turtle food, I plan on doing those red worms for smaller ones sooner or later, terty you want some?
