Hey, I want to build a set up very much like this but much larger. Would something like this work for my tortoise. I want to paint it also and make it someone water proof. what can I use to do that Im thinking of just painting it black. If I used pine but sealed it is that ok or is douglas fir better. just a huge difference in cost.

I personally would build a bigger enclosure. The two-story enclosure is a great idea but you have to make sure that the tortoise cant jump off the top. My cousin lines the edges of the 2nd story and the ramp up to it with plexy glass.

I will be building it larger 10 by 4 or 5 not sure yet.

I'm really just worried about painting and sealing it what to use etc. What's safe.

I used non toxic white paint from this site. http://www.ecospaints.net
Now for the sealing I got this product. http://www.earthpaint.net/product_rainforest.php

There are also many other non toxic paint and sealers out there. These are just the ones I purchesed. Any other questions
