Yard Roaming

Hello!
I was wondering what size my leopard tortoise should be before I let him free roam apart of my back yard. I want to make sure he would be okay without a top. He is 753 g. I attached the area he would go into. My original plan is to split the cage to share between my tegu and tort. But if its safe enough I would like the tort to be able to graze in the area beside and behind the cage during the day, and be housed in the cage at night.

Thanks!

He's large enough to be outside all day in good weather, but I would definitely contain him with barriers of some sort.

He is a black and white. Hes still burmating, so I want the new area to be together before than.

Have you taken your tegu outside before? Be aware that most of them go a little crazy in the sunshine for a minute. When I move mine outside full time, it took them a good two weeks to get back to their "normal" tame state again. They were pretty wild there for those two weeks.

Yeah hes been kept on my back porch. I live in Florida so I have only had to bring them in a couple times this winter. I am really not looking forward to his grumpiness when he wakes up....

He will be good. Just make sure you provide deep shade for him, that’s shade within shade. Like a buried pot under a bush.
