We signed up for a class at the zoo. I knew the topic was turtles, which is why I signed up to go with my 4 year old. The picture showed the large tortoises. So deceiving and the zoo educational staff member told us she was sorry the ad made it look like we’d have an encounter with them. I told her I could slip her as much as a dollar if she let me just step over the rope and give them a rub. Nope. They have two males and one female. The female is kept in a separate area not visible to the public. They had her with them but she was smaller and one of the males cracked her shell trying to mate. Millie did get to pet a box turtle. She also did a turtle craft and named him Puppy Horse. She nurtured him and whispered to him all day.
