I need help in finding a home for a red ear slider turtle who's name is Mr. Peabody. His previous owner left him in my care until they found a place to live but now they have no intention in coming to get him. They don't return my calls. I live in Los Angeles and I want to find him a home with someone who will love and take very good care of him. If anyone can offer any advice/help?

What a dirty trick ....and on top of the dirty trick they did I with a species that is so overpopulated it makes it a rough one to find a home for....have you contacted your local California Turtle and Tortoise Club? While they may not take the turtle in, they may have some contacts for you to start with???

Okay then....lets get started with the turtle info breakdown :D

Will you travel some to meet up with new folks/home for turtle?
What age / size is the turtle?
Is the turtle indeed a male or do we just think so?
What is the current set up/enclosure for the turtle and will it go with the turtle?
May we please see a picture of Mr. Peabody?

Hello again and thank you for replying. Yes I can travel and yes the person/persons can have my setup. A 10 gallon tank, water filter, heater, turtle rocks and floating dock oh and UV light. i got all that from reading the care sheets because I'm a dog and cat person :)- the people who had him, had him in a plastic bowl with very little water and not filter/heater/ no UV :(. I learned alot from the care sheets. Anyway he's male, they got him in June 2015 and he came with me in Dec 2015, so he's going on a year? He's somewhere between 5-6.5 inches? I haven't measured him but will make a point too.

Do a Google Earth search of the neighborhoods around you and try to find someone with an outdoor pond. Then ask them if they'd like a turtle in their pond. But make sure they understand how to care for a turtle if they say yes.

Welcome. I commend you for taking the RES in until you can find a home for it.

I texted my friend in San Diego about your turtle. He has a few already, so maybe one more might be OK. I'll let you know when he responds. I'm sure he will ask for pics if he's interested.

Hi and welcome. I do hope Mr Peabody finds a good home. Sounds like you've done a great job while he's been in your care.
It would be great if a long term member here could take him so you know he's in good hands and you can be kept up to date on how he's doing. All good wishes to you for finding a caring new keeper.

Unfortunately my friend in San Diego is unable to take in another. He is making a few calls to his clients (he installs ponds and water features on the weekends). If a lead pops up I'll pass the info along.
