So the other day i posted a thread regarding my 40 year old Med spur thigh possibly having RNS and being put on Baytril antibiotics by a 'regular vet'.
I decided yesterday that i wasn't happy with the choice that I made to go to a regular vet and had a gut instinct that she needed to be seen by a specialist exotic vet. Our appointment was this afternoon and instantly the vet seeing her knew so much more. 3 X-rays, 1 ultrasound and 30 minutes anxious waiting later, we got told that it wasn't good. Turns out that my 40 year old, was in fact at least 60. One of the xrays shown that her left lung was almost completely filled with fluid and wasn't working at all. She had severe pneumonia ''The worst i've ever seen'', and to top it off, her reproductive organs covered with cysts.
So today we've paid several hundreds of pounds to kick start her months of antibiotic injection treatment, we're having to set up an indoor enclosure for her with specialist lighting etc (she has always had full roam of the garden so this is going to be a struggle), if she pulls through the next few months we're looking at a 600-1000 pound bill for surgery to her cysts.
To summarise, this has been a sh*t week!
