If you had to choose one scute pattern, which would it be?

These are all from Aldabra tortoises but i assume all types of tortoises may have it.

If your choice is not shown here, please feel free to post it :)

I like that zigzag! I really have no preference. Charlie is perfect but I would have still have gotten him if he had split or extra scutes. If you lost your tortoise, having one with a unique pattern might help you prove it was yours.

I have several different species with aberrant scutes (leopard, manouria, YF and desert)

Here's my YF when he hatched:

YF baby 10-14-15 b.jpg

and here he is this a.m., three years later:

YF baby 2-13-18 c.jpg

They sure don't grow very fast.

When I go out this a.m. to open all the sheds I'll take pictures of some of the rest of my aberant scute guys.

This is a rescue from SoCal with a very deformed shell. Picture was taken a couple years ago:

And here she is this a.m. The new growth is coming in nicely, and I think she's going to look pretty good as an adult tortoise with only a few strange bumps along her top line:

This is a desert tortoise I took in as a rescue last year:

These are two yearling Manouria emys phayrei last year as hatchlings:

And here they are today, a year later:

This is the YF from the above post when he was a year old. Wish he could have kept that nice yellow color:

This is BenAwes last year, a SA leopard:

And here he is this a.m. He's 4.5 years old now and deff. male:

This is a RF I took in a few months ago. He doesn't have aberrant scutes, but he's so deformed he's very special in my eyes. His tail is so large it's gross! I think, rather than adopt him out, I'm going to keep him. He's got a pretty nice growth line since he's been getting regular meals:

This little leopard just hatched about a week ago. If it's ok with my tortoise partner, I think I'm going to keep him:
