Really! The people I'm buying him from said he was a desert tortoise. But I was suspiciousSulcata
Thank you so much! Here Is see a pic of the DT desert tortoise http://www.reptilesmagazine.com/Cal...-Be-Bolstered-By-Military-Head-Start-Program/
Sometimes they do look alike. The spurs on the front leg of the sulcata gives it away the easiest. Notice the DT is smoother
That was going to be my next question if it turned out to be a desert tortoise. I was pretty sure there was some laws regarding the selling of this species, and I certainly wouldn't want to do something illegal. Those people need to understand that if that were a desert tortoise they would be doing something illegal by "selling" it. It is against the law to sell desert tortoises. Thankfully, it is a sulcata, and a nice-looking one at that.
But I was already suspicious about which species it was, so I figured I would start there, then figure out the legality of it. I think I'll look into a rescue organization. I just happened to come across that ad and I couldn't resist. That was going to be my next question if it turned out to be a desert tortoise.
