My Hermanns is 8 yrs old & she wants to sleep all day, unless I wake her to feed. Is she trying to hibernate,image.jpgimage.jpg

She is outside most of the time, but she still finds a hiding place that is difficult for me to find & sleeps till wake her.

I’m pretty new to Hermanni but my understanding is that the basking should be around 95F. Maybe she’s not getting warm enough?

Thanks, I’m in central Texas & it has been so hot here & she is outside. I first thought her sleeping outside was due to finding a cool place. Then we had loads of rain & I brought her inside. Them the nights got to 66 & 61. She is confused & I am too.

What should her cool temp be & her hot temp be. What should her humidity be? I know hermanns don’t need much humidity

She needs a much bigger indoor enclosure, or a better heating situation outside. Here is the current and correct care info, and it addresses this specicfically in the outdoor housing section:

Have you ever had this problem previously? My basking spots are around 95.
But I do notice when the season's change my torts become a little lethargic for about a week, then they are active again. Sometimes they disappear for a couple weeks. Then they pop up like nothing happened.

The car sheet Tom just gave you should answer all. But if I'm not mistaken Hermanns do need humidity of at least 60 percent even as adults, a hot spot of a least 90-99 degrees and around 70ish on the cool side. I breed Russians but at these temps I bet could do well with a Hermanns. Members on here will correct me if I'm wrong, But I think you get the idea of ranges that will work for you.
