I really don't know how to put this together because it all happened so quickly but here we go.....
Just an hour ago I found my tortoise with sunken eyes and unresponsive, I tried everything but I knew he was dead

All the information about him is listen below

- approximately 1 year old greek
- gender unknown but I think he's Male
- coco coir substrate
- a good sized enclosure and lights
- varied diet of vegetables (unfortunately where I live we don't really have any greenery around so I resort to getting him as many tortoise safe vegetables I can get)
- soaks

Alright.
I'm wondering if I should get of the substrate or is it safe to use for another tortoise (obviously not getting one anytime soon)
And if it is
Is a coco coir and peat moss mix safe for tortoises?
Especially babies or below 2 years old
And if it is

Most likely the substrate is safe to reuse however without knowing why your tort died we can't be 100% sure.
I would however not use peat moss. It can have a lot of different kinds of garbage mixed in.
Coconut coir and orchid bark are the most recommended.
So very sorry for your loss.

I have a different opinion from Wellington's. I never re-use anything when housing a new tortoise. I always start fresh with all new stuff.
I agree.
Since 1) The cause of death is unknown.
And 2) Substrate is relatively inexpensive.
I'd swap out everything and give the entire enclosure a quick cleaning with some diluted bleach solution.
Better to be cautious.
Especially since there is no rush.

I'm sorry for your loss?
Can you send images of the tort?

Did you use peat moss in this enclosure? As far as I know moss shouldn't be used, because it can be ingested, cause strangulation etc
Moss should NOT be used. It often gets eaten and does not digest very well. Causing blockages.
I've dealt with this firsthand.
